Foodie Fuel – New Series & The Coronado in Phoenix, AZ

February 22, 2019

Hey guys! I want to start sharing with you restaurants, farmers markets and other food related places that I try out! I cook and eat from home probably 90% of the time and I love trying different recipes (some of which I’ll share on here too), but I also love trying new types of food, new restaurants, really I just enjoy trying new things in general lol. You could say that I’m a foodie, because I have a deep appreciation for, well, food and I’ll try just about anything. I think food is a great way to experience an aspect of other cultures, to be adventurous and to bring people together. So with that being said, when I go somewhere and try something that might fuel a fellow foodie’s interest (get it? 😊), I want to share it!

Ok here we go! The place I want to tell you about today is called the Coronado. It’s in Phoenix, AZ so if your local or visiting, this one is definitely worth checking out! I went last month for breakfast with a girlfriend and right away, I loved the environment. It’s a quaint and cozy little eatery with vintage/ modern décor that, I won’t lie, is kind of like a mini maze when you first walk in! It’s an order at the counter and seat yourself type of deal, but none of the doorways open straight to where the counter is at. But don’t worry, you’ll figure it out (after a minute of just looking around I did lol).

They have a full menu (breakfast lunch and dinner options) that’s served all day. I think that’s great because if you want a bowl of chili for breakie, you deserve to have that bowl of chili! They also have vegetarian and vegan options which was the main appeal for us because my friend is a vegan and I prefer my coffee with milk! There were quite a few unique menu items such as fried guacamole, cauliflower taco’s and cookie dough cupcakes! It’s one of those places where I want to just take one of everything home for later haha.

I ended up settling on a lavender cupcake, a vanilla lavender latte and a goat cheese quesadilla with a jalapeno marmalade (yes I love lavender lol). The cupcake was decadent. The kind that is dense and flavorful (not to mention pretty to look at) and went perfect with my latte. Speaking of the latte, I am no coffee connoisseur, but in my opinion the coffee was wonderful. Rich, but not so much that a semi- coffee lover like myself would be put off. If you are a lavender latte lover, I would recommend getting extra lavender for the flavor to really come through. Lastly, there was the quesadilla. So simple, yet non-traditional and oh so good! This is a goat cheese lovers dream right here. The jalapeno marmalade balances out the tangy, pungent cheese perfectly and adds a fun twist.

Overall, I had a very nice experience here. I love the food as well as the feel and they have a dog friendly patio (need I say more?)! If you like hipster hangout’s or just want to try some eclectic food, this is a great place to visit! And if you’ve made it this far, thank you so much for reading and please let me know if you like this type of post!!

Xoxo
