Cute Half-up Twists

February 13, 2019

Hey babes! Happy Wednesday!! Soooo since Valentine’s Day is this week and spring is approaching, I wanted to share this cute and easy half up hairstyle. This is super cute with straight or curly hair, but its best if you do it a day or two after you’ve washed your hair. This way your hair has some nice texture that will help everything stay in place. If you want to do this the day that you wash your hair though, don’t worry! Just spray a little texture spray or dry shampoo in your roots and mid- shafts and you’ll be good to go! Ok enough chit chat, here are the steps:

  1. Start with textured hair. I used a 1” curling wand for my hair and sprayed in a little Kenra Dry Texture Spray.

2. Starting on either side of your head, section off the hair just before your ear. Twist the whole section back and away from your face.

3. Hold the end of the twist with one hand and with the other, gently pinch and pull up on the top pieces of the twist. This will stretch the twist to make it bigger (my favorite part!!).

4. Drape the twist just below the crown of the head and secure with a strong bobby pin (I can’t stress this enough! If you buy cheaply made pins, they won’t hold your hair!). These are the pins I use. Also, to pin the twist, you don’t need to get the whole thing in the pin. Just snag the top section and slide the pin toward the middle of your head horizontally.

5 & 6. Repeat steps 2 and 3 on the other side of your head.

7. Drape the twist over top of the first twist, but instead of just pinning it on top, gently pull it under the first twist. I do this by sliding my index finger under the first twist, hooking it around the second twist and gently pulling in down. Now, holding the section where the second twist is under the first, slide a bobby pin in horizontally so that it goes through both twists.

8. Finish with hairspray and you’re done!

So there you have it! This style would be so cute for a V-day date! I personally love it for those days when I want my hair out of my face, but don’t want to throw it up in a pony yet (especially because once you get the ponytail crease in your hair there’s no going back lol). Let me know what you think and if you try it, tag me on Instagram (@thedesertdaydreamer) so I can see your gorgeousness!!

Until next time loves!!
