Foodie Fuel – Pomegranate Cafe, Phoenix AZ

March 29, 2019

What’s up foodies?? I’ve got another cute, hipster and healthy cafe for you to try. This one’s in Phoenix and definitely worth checking out. It’s called Pomegranate Cafe (how cute is that name?!). The restaurant was opened by Cassie and Marlene, a mother- daughter team, who wanted to create a “community space where delicious flavor and nutritious ingredients came together with friendly service in a creative, earth- conscious environment” (that’s straight off their site lol. I couldn’t have said it better myself!). Their unique menu is all vegetarian and vegan and they have gluten free options! Also, my favorite part, most of their ingredients are organic and sourced from local farmers!! You can check out some of their suppliers on their website.

Ok, on to my personal experience here. I went with a couple girlfriends for a late breakfast on a Sunday and we sat outside since we were being joined by a certain furry someone 😊. I LOVED their patio! With live plants adorning each rustic wooden table, you get a farmhouse kind of vibe. Now, the menu. You’ve got quite a few options here and they all sound so so yummy. I’m pretty sure our waiter had to come to our table 3 or 4 times before all 3 of us finally figured out what we wanted.

I started off with a Black Forest Mocha. For those of you who don’t know, “black forest” in the culinary world, typically refers to a German cake consisting of chocolate sponge cake and cherries. I wasn’t 100% sure of this combo as I’ve had fruity coffee drinks before and they weren’t so great. But I decided to give this a shot and to my surprise, it was delicious! A perfect balance of fruity and chocolaty. The drink was rich and thick (not to mention pretty) and the coffee was robust! An absolutely wonderful way to start your morning.

After going back and forth between sweet and savory dishes, I finally settled on their cinnamon French toast. It came topped with candied pecans, fresh strawberries, coconut whipped cream and pure maple syrup on the side! And what a perfect balance of flavors it was. The spicy cinnamon complemented the sweet strawberries magnificently. The candied pecans broke up the soft texture of the toast and I mean come on candied pecans… need I say more? I was a bit skeptical of the coconut whip, because I feel like sometimes it’s too coconutty, but this one was light, sweet and subtle. I also have to mention the texture of the toast! If your someone who likes their cookies and brownies almost raw in the center, YOU WILL LOVE THIS! Of course, the bread wasn’t raw lol, but it did have a very soft and chewy consistency in the center that had me drooling!

Yes, this is a picture of the bathroom, but l had to, it’s so beautiful! Actually, my friend had to, since I didn’t bring my phone to the bathroom… Thanks girl 😊

I can’t wait to go back to try some of their other meals and to get that coffee again (sooo good!). The staff was friendly, the food delicious and the environment bright and fresh. If you’re in Phoenix, stop by Pomegranate Cafe and get a Black Forest Mocha for me!!

xoxo
