Hot Cacao Recipe!!

March 6, 2019

Happy hump day friends! Ok, so I posted this recipe on my Instagram a couple weeks ago and I love it so much that I want to make sure its on here for you too, because guys… it’s AMAZING! I originally made this because every month, a week before my menstrual cycle, I cut out caffeine, dairy and sugar (mostly processed) from my diet. But if you’re a woman reading this, you know that a week before your period, almost everything you crave has one of those things in it lol. I personally love a hot drink in the morning and even though I drink herbal tea, sometimes that just doesn’t cut it.

This hot cacao, though, is healthy, thick, rich and sweet, but not too sweet! It’s a great substitute for coffee in the morning or a sweet treat at night. I’m pretty much obsessed. Here’s how you make this goodness:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 – 3 pitted dates (or 1 tsp raw honey)
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp Ceylon cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Heat almond milk, water and dates in a small saucepan over medium low heat. Do not boil.
  2. Add all other ingredients to a blender.
  3. Once the liquid is heated and the dates are soft, pour into the blender and blend until smooth.
  4. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!!

Seriously, I love this! It’s so heavenly and filled with healthy fats, vitamins and antioxidants! No guilt! If you give it a try, I’d love to hear what you think!

xoxo
